Two halls, one address

Selma House sits at 2 Wellington Street in Smethwick, a short drive from Birmingham city centre and well placed for guests travelling from across Sandwell, the Black Country and the wider West Midlands.

The Gold Hall is the larger room, holding up to 160 guests with a wide dance floor and lighting truss. The Silver Hall is the more intimate option for 40 to 70 guests. Both have a large screen and a dance floor, so a smaller event never feels like an afterthought.

Dry hire, on your terms

Through Selma House Events you can book the venue on a dry hire basis, with no compulsory catering. Bring your own caterer, cake maker or family cooks, or ask us for help with suppliers — whichever suits your event and budget.

The bar at the venue is available for your guests, and we can talk through optional extras such as décor, entertainment and table layouts when we prepare your quote.

How booking works

Every event is different, so we don't publish set packages or price lists. Tell us your date, guest numbers and what you have in mind, and our team will prepare a personalised quote for you.

Once we have your details, we check the venue's master diary before any date is held for you, so you never receive a confirmation for a date that is already taken. You are welcome to visit before deciding — book a viewing and see the halls for yourself.

Who books Selma House

Families celebrating milestone birthdays and christenings, couples hosting wedding receptions and engagement parties, organisations holding fundraisers and community events, and businesses planning team socials and end-of-year parties.

We also host funeral receptions and wakes, where we keep things simple and respond quickly.
